Key Point 2 For Growing Your Team: Hire For Attitude

So, the next key point when hiring is Hire for Attitude, Skill, Communication & Results. So you might have heard that before, “Hire for Attitude”. This is super important, it is also important to have great skills that fit the role and with clear and effective communications.
The best judge for what people can do is on what they’ve done in the past.
There’s a lot of people that talk a good game but when it comes into hiring, exactly what they’ve done before, the results they got and really get clear on that.
Really important to be clear on, “Are they fit for our culture? Are they fit for our company?”
All it takes is one rotten apple to spoil the bunch right? We want to make sure that if we are growing in an incredible environment, virtual environment, or even in-house, to help achieve the vision in our company, it’s really important to make sure we’re bringing people in that really wanna be hanging out with outside of work, create your bestfriends, in and out of work, would you love to introduce them to your family or have dinner with your family. It’s a good test to run by. You wanna hire attitude and the skill. Ultimately, it’s like there’s 4 out of 5 chances that the person you bring on to your company is not gonna be in that role for long.
If you bring the right person that has the right attitude attitude, is ambitious with a growth mindset, who want to grow personally and professionally, and they got the skills and they are flexible, they will help grow all different areas of your business. You can just allocate them work, in different areas, because roles are always gonna change. If they got the open mindset of, “Okay, bring me or take me into a new work and grow the skills in different areas”. That’s what you want and ultimately, you want flexibility.
Hire attitude is key, and I think Peter Drucker was the guy that said, “culture eats strategy for breakfast”. Bringing on the team members that are really fit your vision. People that you want to be around as well.
Don’t hire everybody who is the same as you cause that means there’s no diversity either. You want to be bringing on people who have filled the culture but they are not exactly as you and end up having in a team of people to be just like you. It’s not good for the diversity of the business. Hope that makes sense.
You really wanted to bring people who are completely outcome focused and I’ve talked about that before, but you don’t want to have people who come to you every 5 or 10 minutes and put monkeys on your back.
If they get stuck and don’t know how to do something, then they are clear on the outcome and this is the big part on how we delegate and how we outsource to our team.
We always get context before content as you know.
This is what we wanna achieve, this is why it’s important, this is what success looks like and this is where it happens. Give the context to them so they can be really clear and they don’t come to you every 5 or 10 minutes. They understand the outcome and if they come to a hurdle, they can overcome it with no stress.
