How to Delegate in your Amazon Business Effectively
Quite often we get told to delegate and outsource, but I wanted to break it down step by step so you have a set framework to use to free your time up to focus on higher value activities.
I’m going to give you 7 Steps To Rapid Delegation in your Amazon business and the first one starts with:
1. Building the workflow out for the process that you want to outsource
This gives an overview of the task so you can see it clearly and it gives you a structure to follow whilst you’re recording any training.
2. Record yourself doing the “Do” of the process
Using Screenflow or Camtasia or Jing just hit record, guide, and create training as you go through each step and you can use the actual workflow you created in Step 1 as a general guideline to the video.
3. Add a way to measure the process to improve over time
It could be a speed thing. It could take 2 days or less than that. It could be a cost thing or it could be a quality thing. It’s just attaching a way to measure and improve a process over time.
4. Film yourself doing the process with somebody on Skype
You jump on a Skype call and you basically screen share, where you can both go through the process together and they can ask any questions as when they need to. That video will be recorded and uploaded to a youtube training channel which could be internal for your company.
5. Block time to inspect their work
It could be a week late or three consecutive weeks, you just check in and inspect what they’ve been doing because “What gets inspected gets respected” as Chet Holmes said.
6. Create formalized procedures and SOPs into the company which then can be used as training manuals and the like
It’s going to be a great resource for anyone coming into the company and if anyone’s ever sick or whatever, you can actually have someone trained up on that in a matter of minutes.
7. Celebrate them!
The final point, which is the most important, is to celebrate them. Once they’ve done and accomplished the task and they’re getting there, and they’re actually improving over time, celebrate them. Call them out in a workshop meeting. I’ve found this really does help with developing a strong culture. People love to feel significant when they are contributing to something bigger than themselves that’s when they feel they are part of the team and you got absolute buy-in from them.
So, these are the 7 Steps to Rapid Delegation in your Amazon business and how you can quickly start to get rid of tasks that you don’t need to do.
What kind of an impact could using delegation like this have on you and your Amazon Business?
